PBS or Performance Based Standards is a National Heavy Vehicle scheme which is managed by the NHVR (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) which is designed to offer the heavy vehicle industry the potential to achieve higher productivity and safety through vehicle design.
All PBS combinations are tested against 20 standards, 16 are safety standards and 4 are infrastructure standards. These standards ensure that vehicles are designed and constructed to ensure the right vehicle for the right job without inflicting any damage to infrastructure.
The PBS scheme came into operation in 2007 and Hercules has been at the forefront of the scheme since its inception and are one of the leading PBS truck and trailer manufacturers in the industry. With the experience that we have and the understanding of the access issues for different states, we are able to assist in the best fit design for your combination to maximise the benefits of the PBS scheme.
Hercules (QLD) Pty Ltd have a vast number of design approvals in place that will cover most vehicle combinations so as manufacture of the combination can be completed in a timely manner resulting in vehicles on the road in a shorter amount of time. We are a one stop shop in regards to design, manufacture, certification and approval and can also assist in the processes involved in obtaining on road permits in areas where standard access is not covered.
Malcolm Hall has been with Hercules for the past 15 years. With his extensive knowledge and understanding of the PBS scheme, Malcolm is able to guide you every step of the way – from design to permit renewals.
